Showy penstemon with dark, purple-tinged foliage and upright spikes of lavender to deep purple tubular flowers in early to midsummer. Provides strong foliage and flower contrast in sunny borders and is very popular with hummingbirds and bees. Prefers full sun and well-drained soils and resents overly wet or heavy conditions, especially in winter.
