Short native prairie grass commonly called blue grama, forming low clumps of fine foliage with eyebrow-like flowering spikes held horizontally in summer. Excellent for drought-tolerant lawns, meadows, and naturalistic plantings in hot, dry sites. Thrives in full sun and well-drained, often poor soils and offers good habitat value for insects and birds.
