Architectural perennial with deeply lobed, thistle-like silvery foliage that forms a bold rosette. Tall stems carry white to pale yellow daisy-like flowers above the leaves in summer. Prefers full sun and sharply drained soils and is best suited to dry, sunny borders or gravel gardens where its spiny foliage can be appreciated but not brushed against.
