(Eastern Bluestar)
One of the earliest Amsonias to emerge in spring from deep purple shoots resembling asparagus. Sky blue flowers follow soon after and leave behind elongated seed pods. Wide, glossy, somewhat crinkled foliage lends to the shrubby look for the summer. In the fall, the foliage turns a lovely golden yellow. Tolerant of a wide range of soils, it’s a great option for rain gardens, meadows, or as a beautiful accent plant in the border.
