Agave schidigera 'Black Widow' 1Q (Century Plant)

A selection touted for its abundance of white wiry “hairs” that emerge from the leave margins, lending to its spidery namesake. Deep green lance-shaped leaves tipped with a single spike form a rigid rosette that maintains a compact size. Great for containers, although, depending on your hardiness zone, it should be overwintered indoors. The common name Century Plant is a slightly exaggerated reference to the infrequency of the bloom, which occurs in optimal conditions only once at about 20 years.
